Beginning Beauty! To Tweeze or Not To Tweeze?

Okay ladies; let me tell you where to tweeze and why not to tweeze your brows. Over
tweezing your brows over time leads to your brows NOT growing back.

Stay with your natural shape and tweeze only the strays on the top and bottom in the
middle.

Never use a razor to shave your brows! You don’t have control of the razor and usually
end taking off more than you should, plus they start growing in and you have stubble.
Clean up only the strays and you will thank me later when your are not drawing your
brows back on after years of over tweezing.

Makeup Facial Cleansing for Tweens and Teens

You may think that washing your face is just well… washing your face. Let me show you a few tips on effectively washing your face to cleanse your skin from oil, dirt and makeup.

Start by washing your hands with soap and water- why wash your face with dirty hands? Wet your face slightly and use a facial cleanser appropriate for your skin type (NOT the bar of soap from the shower). Massage the cleanser into your skin, making sure to reach the hairline and behind the ears. A good way to time your cleansing is to sing “Happy Birthday” twice, letting the product sit on your skin long enough to breakdown the oil and dirt. Rinse your face with water, completely removing the cleanser.

Pat your skin dry gently using a clean washcloth, not that hand towel everyone has been wiping their hands on.

Next is moisturizer. Use a moisturizer with SPF in it to help prevent sun damage and future signs of aging. This is a good habit that will keep your skin looking younger longer. If you are going to be in the sun for an extended period of time, like the beach the zoo- any outdoor activity, consider a higher sunblock made for the face (not the greasy stuff that goes on the body)
Remember- clean skin equals beautiful makeup!

Beginning Beauty! First makeup how-to for Tweens and Teens

When are you old enough to start wearing makeup? Well, it is different for each girl and her parents. By eleven or twelve years old, it is okay to start wearing a little bit. In this first makeup lesson I will be showing you the basics of blush, mascara and lip gloss.

Place blush where you naturally blush anyway- on the apples of your cheeks. To find the apples of your cheeks, look in the mirror and smile big, the round, smooth area under your eyes are the apples of your cheeks. Pop a little color there for a healthy natural glow.

For mascara, I recommend an inexpensive washable formula. I use the classic pink and green bottle, “Maybelline’s Great Lash”. Take the mascara wand to the base of the lash, where they grow, and sweep the mascara wand through to the ends. Avoid waterproof mascara because it can be really hard to remove. I like “smudge proof” formulas.
Don’t forget to replace your mascara every three months! Mascara can become contaminated with bacteria and dirt and starts to dry out, we don’t want that stuff anywhere near your eyes!

Last but not least- lips! A sheer pink gloss will give your lips a little shine and color. Most lip glosses are made to applied on the go- so take it with you for quick touchups and moisture. Some brands even have a flavor- I like the mint ones, personally.
